This high-quality hands-on program is an excellent opportunity for livestock producers and agricultural and conservation professionals to enhance their grazing skills.

Topics that will be covered include:

  • Grazing math and forage allocation (classroom and hands-on)

  • Using temporary electric fencing successfully (hands-on)

  • Getting water to livestock…Portable and permanent watering systems (classroom and hands-on)

  • Managing tall fescue in grazing systems

  • Exploring root systems of forage plants (hands-on)

  • Hands on forage allocation exercises

  • Managing nutrient cycles in grassland ecosystems

  • Shade in grazing systems

  • Drought proofing your grazing system

  • Utilizing the GRAZE Model for system planning

  • Putting the pieces together…optimizing the use of existing forage resources

  • Frost seeding clover (hands-on)

  • Annuals as a part of profitable grazing system (hands-on)

This school is an action packed two days with good mix of indoor and outdoor activities!

Training Details

The event will be held Wednesday, Sept. 24, and Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Woodford County Extension Office, 184 Beasley Road, Versailles, KY 40383.

REGISTER: Registration costs are $60 per participant and end Sept. 22.
