North Central Region SARE Research and Education Grant
The North Central Region SARE (NCR-SARE) Research and Education (R&E) Grant Program is a competitive grant program for researchers and educators involved in projects that explore and promote environmentally sound, economically viable, and socially responsible food and/or fiber systems.
Project coordinators in the past have explored sustainable agriculture under the following topics:
Sustainable pest and weed mgmt.
Marketing and local food systems
Water quality and nutrient mgmt.
Systems research
High tunnels and season extension
Crop diversification
Cover crops and soil health
Small ruminants/poultry/cattle
Pastured livestock/grazing systems
Pollinators and biodiversity
Urban agriculture
This competitive program is intended for researchers and educators involved in projects that explore and promote environmentally sounds, economically viable, and socially responsible food and/or fiber systems. Research and Education projects include a strong component and significant farmer/rancher or other end-user involvement from the inception of the idea through the implementation of the project. These grants range from $10,000 to $250,000 and can be for projects for up to three years.

The Food Animal Concerns Trust offers two different Fund-a-Farmer grant opportunities!
60 Fund-a-Farmer Welfare Improvement Grants up to $3,500 each: For farmers who are seeking to improve the lives of their animals or pursue or maintain animal welfare certification for their operation.
For farms looking to…
Improve the lives of their farm animals. Projects could include:
Transition to pasture-based systems
Expand animals’ access to well-managed pasture
Improve the living conditions of their food animals
1 Fund-a-Farmer Systems Change and Innovation Grant of $10,000: Projects focus on the adoption of alternative breeds or developing co-operatives with other pasture-based farmers and confinement operations who are looking to convert to a pasture-based system.
Online Course Scholarships
Kiss the Ground is offering scholarships for its 90-minute, online Regenerative Agriculture Essentials course. The course offers insight and education on why rebuilding healthy soil is the ultimate solution for water, wellness, and climate issues. These scholarships are meant to make this course more accessible and promote equal opportunity for communities that have been both traditionally and currently underserved. They strongly encourage a number of groups, including students and teachers, to apply. All scholarships applications are considered and awarded until they reach funding capacity.
