Brent Glays and his family at The Flock Farm in Anna will show how rotating sheep, goats, cattle, hogs, and chickens through approximately 37 acres of land has naturally improved the quality of pasture, improved animal health and reduced feed and veterinary costs.
This field day offers a firsthand look at the practical benefits of rotational grazing management. Don't miss this chance to explore The Flock Farm and learn how they have used rotational grazing practices to improve soil health, increase high quality native grasses and forage, reduce invasive species, and control parasites and diseases.
Additionally, The Flock Farm is home to a poultry processing facility and an on-farm store carrying products from 23 local producers.
After touring the farm, continue the conversation and ask questions over a locally sourced meal provided by Cold-Blooded Coffee and Smokehouse. Anyone interested in learning more about regenerative, rotational grazing practices is encouraged to attend.
This pasture walk is sponsored by Food Works and the Illinois Grazing Lands Coalition. Food Works is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that seeks to promote long-term farming networks that create healthy soils, healthy food, and healthy communities across the 23 Southern Illinois counties.
